My Experience

I visited this hidden waterfall while exploring the forest trails below Sveti Primož. The walk through the woodland was peaceful, with fresh mountain air, birdsong, and the sound of water creating a relaxing atmosphere along the way.

What I enjoyed most was the feeling of discovering a place that is easy to overlook. The waterfall is not large, but its location deep in the forest gives it a special character. Surrounded by moss, trees, and rocks, it feels much more secluded than many of the better-known natural attractions around Kamnik.

The amount of water can also make a noticeable difference. After wetter periods, the waterfall becomes more active and the sound of the flowing water adds even more atmosphere to the forest. During drier conditions, the flow is smaller, but the surrounding woodland is still pleasant to explore.

For me, this was a nice example of how smaller natural attractions can make a hiking trip more interesting. Combining the waterfall with a visit to Sveti Primož creates a relaxed half-day adventure with plenty of time to enjoy the forest, take photographs, and explore the area.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit the waterfall is after rainfall, when the water flow is usually stronger and the waterfall becomes more impressive. I especially like visiting when the snow starts to melt, as the additional water flowing down from the mountains can make the waterfall much larger and more powerful.

Spring can therefore be an especially rewarding time to visit. Autumn offers a different experience, with colourful forest surroundings and a peaceful atmosphere. During dry periods, the waterfall may have much less water, but the forest walk and natural surroundings are still enjoyable.

Because the waterfall is seasonal, checking the weather conditions before your hike can help you choose a better time to visit.

Trail Conditions

The trail to the waterfall follows peaceful forest paths and is generally easy to walk. The route can include roots, stones, fallen leaves, and uneven sections, so comfortable hiking shoes are recommended.

After rainfall or during the snowmelt period, the trail can become wet and muddy, while the area around the waterfall may be slippery because of the increased water flow. Extra care is recommended when approaching the waterfall, especially around wet rocks and moss.

What I especially like is how different the waterfall can be depending on the conditions. When the snow starts melting and more water comes down from the mountains, the waterfall can become surprisingly large and powerful. Seeing this change makes the place even more interesting to visit at different times of the year.

I also like that the waterfall can easily be included in a hike around Sveti Primož. It gives the walk an additional goal and makes the whole outing feel more like exploring rather than simply following a hiking route.

Photography

This hidden waterfall is a nice subject for nature photography, especially when the water flow is strong after rainfall or during the spring snowmelt. When more water comes down from the mountains, the waterfall becomes much more impressive and gives you more opportunities to capture the movement of the water.

I also like photographing the details around the waterfall, including moss-covered rocks, trees, flowing water, and the surrounding forest. These smaller details help show the peaceful character of the place.

Different weather and seasons can completely change the appearance of the waterfall. Spring, after the snow begins to melt, is particularly interesting because the increased water flow can make the waterfall look much larger than it does during dry periods.

Final Thoughts

This hidden waterfall below Sveti Primož is a small natural attraction, but for me, that is exactly what makes it interesting. It is a quiet place in the forest where you can take a break, enjoy the sound of running water, and experience a less-known part of the Kamnik area.

Combined with a hike to Sveti Primož, this hidden waterfall makes a rewarding half-day adventure. If you enjoy exploring quiet places and discovering lesser-known natural spots, I think this hidden waterfall is well worth a visit.

For me, the waterfall is especially interesting in spring, when melting snow brings more water from the mountains. I would happily return at a different time of year to see how the waterfall changes. It is a simple place, but one that I really enjoyed discovering.
