Cycling to Soriška Planina in the Slovenian Alps

Cycling to Soriška Planina was one of those rides where I knew from the beginning that the climb would not be easy. I started near Železniki and followed the mountain road higher into the hills, passing forests, small villages, and quiet countryside along the way.

The further I climbed, the more the landscape changed. The valley slowly disappeared behind me, the road became more demanding, and the views opened up towards the surrounding mountains. I enjoyed stopping from time to time to take photographs and simply look around.

The climb required quite a bit of effort, but that was also part of what made the ride so satisfying. Reaching Soriška Planina after the long uphill section gave me a real sense of achievement, and I was happy to finally put the bike aside and enjoy the mountain surroundings.

I started my ride near Železniki, where the road towards Soriška Planina begins to climb gradually. The first part of the route was still quite relaxed, which gave me some time to settle into a comfortable pace and enjoy the quiet surroundings.

The road took me through forests, small villages, and green countryside. I liked this part of the ride because it felt peaceful and away from busy roads and traffic.

As I continued, I could gradually feel the climb becoming more demanding. I knew there was still a long way to go, so I kept a steady pace and saved some energy for the steeper sections higher up.

The Climb Towards Soriška Planina

As I continued higher, the climb became noticeably more demanding. The road wound through the forest, with occasional glimpses of the hills and valleys appearing between the trees.

I tried to keep a steady rhythm and not push too hard on the steeper sections. The higher I got, the more the surroundings began to change, and I could feel that I was leaving the valley further behind.

What I enjoyed most was watching the landscape change during the climb. The forest gradually gave way to more open areas, and the mountain scenery became more visible. Even though the uphill riding required plenty of effort, these changes made the ride much more enjoyable for me.

By the time I reached the higher sections, I was already looking forward to Soriška Planina and the chance to finally take a proper break at the top.
