Hiking Trail to Štefanja Gora Forest Path from Adergas
The hiking trail from Adergas to Štefanja Gora is a pleasant short hike in Slovenia. The route leads through the forest towards the 748-meter-high summit and offers a quiet way to spend some time in nature.
The hike starts in Adergas and follows a marked trail uphill towards Štefanja Gora. With approximately 324 meters of elevation gain, the route includes a fairly steep beginning before continuing along the forest path towards the summit.
Starting the Trail from Adergas
The trail starts in Adergas near the church. From there, the marked path leads towards the forest and quickly starts climbing.
The beginning is very steep and is probably the hardest part of the route. Good hiking shoes with a good grip are recommended, especially if the ground is wet.
After this section, the trail reaches the forest path and the hike becomes more comfortable.
Walking Through the Forest
After the steep beginning, the trail continues along a forest path. The route is mostly surrounded by trees, with plenty of shade and greenery along the way.
The climb is more comfortable here, and I continued following the marked trail deeper into the forest. The path gradually gains height as it leads towards Štefanja Gora.
The forest section was quiet and peaceful, making this part of the hike enjoyable.
The Final Part of the Hike
After walking through the forest, I continued along the marked trail towards the summit. The final part of the route was more comfortable than the steep beginning, and the trail gradually brought me closer to the top.
Shortly before reaching the summit, I came to a beautiful viewpoint. From there, I could see Kočna, Grintovec, Kalški Greben, and the entire slope of Krvavec.
I continued to the summit of Štefanja Gora, where the Church of St. Stephen is located. Reaching the top was a nice finish to the hike and a good place to take a short break.
My Experience

What to Bring
For this hike, I recommend comfortable hiking shoes with good grip, especially because of the steep beginning.
I also took enough water and a small backpack with me. A phone or camera is worth bringing if you enjoy taking photographs, as there are some nice views along the route.
A light jacket can also be useful depending on the weather.
Why Hike This Trail?
I enjoyed this trail because it is a relatively short hike, but it still gives you a good feeling of climbing a mountain. The steep beginning makes the first part more challenging, while the rest of the route through the forest is much more comfortable.
I also liked how quiet the trail was during my hike. There were no busy roads or crowded tourist areas around me, so I could enjoy the walk at my own pace.
The views before the summit were another reason I liked this route. Being able to see Kočna, Grintovec, Kalški Greben, and Krvavec made the effort of the climb worthwhile.
For me, this is a good trail when I want a shorter hike, some time in nature, and a few nice mountain views without choosing a very demanding route.
Photography
I also enjoyed taking photographs during this hike. The forest trail provided some nice natural scenery along the way, while the viewpoint before the summit was the best spot for mountain photography.
From the viewpoint, I could photograph Kočna, Grintovec, Kalški Greben, and Krvavec. The Church of St. Stephen at the summit also made for a nice subject.
For me, the combination of forest, mountains, and the summit church made this a good hike for photography as well as walking.
