I started this hike at the free parking area in the village of Stražišče, below Šmarjetna Gora. From the beginning, the trail starts climbing quite steeply. The average gradient is around 16%, and in many sections it is even steeper.

I particularly like this climb because you can do a lot for your strength and endurance in a relatively short amount of time. The steep gradient makes the hike feel like a good workout while still being short enough to fit into a busy day.
The route continues through a combination of road and forest sections. Around 15 minutes before reaching the summit, it is possible to turn onto a forest path, which I highly recommend. This part of the trail is very beautiful and offers a more natural and peaceful hiking experience.
