One of the highlights of the route is seeing Kredarica and Triglav gradually appear as you climb higher. The landscape becomes more rugged and alpine, giving a clear impression of how much elevation still remains before reaching the summit.
From Kredarica onwards, the route towards Triglav becomes very demanding. I recommend extra caution and concentration while walking, especially on the steeper and more exposed sections.
Whether you reach Triglav in one day or decide to split the ascent over two days depends on your physical fitness, experience, pace, breaks, and current mountain conditions.
What to Bring
Proper high-mountain equipment is essential for this demanding route.
For the ascent towards Triglav, I recommend carrying at least 3 litres of water per person, especially during the warmer summer months.
Views of Kredarica and Triglav
The higher part of the route provides spectacular views towards Kredarica and Triglav. The rugged slopes, rocky terrain, and surrounding peaks create a classic high-alpine landscape.
From the trail, Kredarica can be seen rising among the surrounding mountains, while Triglav dominates the skyline ahead. These views make the demanding ascent feel especially rewarding.
The scenery also changes with the weather. On my hike, the conditions near the summit became foggy, while sunshine remained visible lower in the mountains.

Weather Conditions

During my ascent, the weather changed near the summit and Aljažev Stolp became surrounded by thick fog, while sunshine remained visible below. This created a dramatic contrast between the foggy summit and the sunny mountain landscape.
Always check the mountain weather forecast before starting and take changing conditions seriously.
Best Time to Hike
The best time for this route is generally during the summer hiking season, when high-mountain conditions are more suitable.
Snow and ice can remain at higher elevations outside the main summer season. Current mountain conditions should always be checked before starting.
Photography
The route offers excellent opportunities for mountain photography. The changing scenery from forest to rocky alpine terrain creates many different views along the ascent.
The view towards Kredarica and Triglav is especially impressive and shows the scale of the high mountains. The combination of rocky slopes, surrounding peaks, and the route climbing towards the summit creates a dramatic mountain scene.
