Visoka špica Above Kamnik Slovenia

Visoka špica (660 m) is a small and beautiful summit above Kamnik in Slovenia. It is located close to Stari grad Kamnik and offers a lovely view of Kamnik, the surrounding hills, and part of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps.

I visited Visoka špica from Kamnik and enjoyed the short hike through peaceful forest surroundings. The trail is relatively short, but the climb makes it a rewarding little hike. Visoka špica is a great choice if you are looking for a quieter viewpoint near Kamnik.

Visoka špica is a separate summit from Stari grad Kamnik, although the two destinations are very close to each other. If you are already hiking to Stari grad Kamnik, you can simply continue along the trail and reach Visoka špica as well. I decided to visit Visoka špica first and then continue towards Stari grad Kamnik.

The route starts in Kamnik and follows a forest trail towards the summit. The surroundings are peaceful, with trees and natural scenery along most of the walk.

My Experience

The hike to Visoka špica was a pleasant short walk through the forest above Kamnik. I really like this trail because it is quite steep, but still comfortable to hike.

The trail is not very long, but the elevation gain makes it feel like a proper little climb. I enjoyed the steady climb through the peaceful forest surroundings.

As I approached the summit, the forest opened up and I was rewarded with a nice view of the surrounding landscape. The view towards Kamnik and the nearby mountains makes the hike worthwhile.

After reaching Visoka špica, I continued towards Stari grad Kamnik. The two destinations are close enough that it makes sense to combine them into one hike.

This is also a nice option if you have already visited Stari grad Kamnik and want to add another nearby summit and viewpoint to your walk.

Parking

There is a large gravel parking area at the starting point in Kamnik.

Parking is paid from Monday to Friday, from 7:00 to 15:00. Outside these hours, parking is free.

The parking area provides a convenient starting point for the hike towards Visoka špica and Stari grad Kamnik.

What to Bring

Although the hike to Visoka špica is relatively short, comfortable hiking shoes are recommended.

Bring enough water, especially during warmer weather, and a small backpack if you plan to continue towards Stari grad Kamnik.

A camera is also worth bringing because the summit offers a nice view over Kamnik and the surrounding mountains.

Visoka špica is a 660-metre summit above Kamnik. It is a separate summit located very close to Stari grad Kamnik.

During winter, snow and ice can make the unmarked trail slippery, so appropriate footwear and extra caution are recommended.
