Predaselj Gorge and the Surrounding Nature

Predaselj Gorge is a beautiful natural attraction in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps near Kamnik, Slovenia. Located in the Kamniška Bistrica valley, the gorge was carved by the Kamniška Bistrica River, creating narrow rocky passages with steep walls and beautiful blue-green water.

The gorge can be reached from Dom v Kamniški Bistrici, where there is a large parking area. From there, a forest trail leads towards the gorge and a bridge overlooking the river. This relatively short walk offers several interesting natural sights along the way.

Veliki Predaselj and Mali Predaselj form the main parts of the gorge, where large rocks are wedged between the steep walls. The unusual rock formations and natural bridges make this section particularly interesting to explore, while some parts of the gorge reach around 35 metres in depth.

Slap Orglice, also known as Orglice Waterfall, is another beautiful spot in the surrounding area and is well worth a visit.

My Experience

I visited Predaselj Gorge during a trip through the Kamniška Bistrica valley and really enjoyed this short hike. The trail through the forest was peaceful, and the sound of the Kamniška Bistrica River could be heard as I approached the gorge.

The most impressive part for me was reaching the bridge overlooking the gorge. The steep rocky walls, large rocks and blue-green water create a beautiful natural scene. I also continued down towards the river, where the gorge feels even more impressive from close up.

The wooden steps and wet sections required some caution, but the route was well worth the effort. I took several photos along the way, especially of the river, rocks and gorge from different viewpoints.

What I liked most about Predaselj is that it is a relatively short hike but still offers a lot to see. The peaceful forest, rushing river and dramatic rocks make it a great place to slow down and enjoy nature.

I recommend wearing good hiking shoes, as some parts of the trail and wooden steps can be wet and slippery.

Predaselj Gorge is definitely worth a visit when exploring the Kamniška Bistrica valley. You can also combine the trip with nearby attractions such as Slap Orglice Waterfall.

I took several photos of Predaselj Gorge during my visit and really liked the combination of the blue-green river, rocky gorge and surrounding forest.

The bridge provides a great viewpoint into the depths of the gorge, while the trail offers different perspectives of the rocks and river. The large rocks wedged between the gorge walls also make interesting subjects for photography.
